How do you act when delay in metal fabrication happens?
As a contract manufacturer, it is inevitable to face the delay problem of production and delivery. It is very important to deliver in time to make sure your OEM customer can maintain the production plan. The way you react will cause different results.
For metal stamping
For metal stamping, the delay may happen to tool design and manufacture stage, material preparation, press availability, secondary service availability, or even to shipping schedule.
Our strategy is to share the difficulty at the very first time in case of delay.
To let the customer know the delay may happen or already happened cause much pressure. However, it is important to let the customer know the situation so a plan B can be make at customer’s end.
To share the difficult may get support from the customer. Most of our customers are OEM and have much experiences in manufacturing and assembly. Actually they occupy higher tier than us in the manufacturing industry. They can use their experience to help directly or even use their third party resources.
In fact, we not only share the delay, we share the production plan including tool design and manufacture, material preparation, press availability, secondary service plan like heat treatment and electroplating that we are not able to control as ourselves. And we share the plan as early as possible once the order is confirmed. We believe honest communication is the key to successful cooperation and this has been proved by our long-term customers.
